Dr. Jennifer Cribbs graduated from Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1999. After working as an applications engineer for a glass and ceramic company in Georgia, she moved back to South Carolina to pursue a career in education.
Dr. Cribbs received a Masters of Arts degree in Mathematics Education from Converse College in 2005. She proceeded to teach secondary mathematics in South Carolina public schools until pursuing her doctorate at Clemson University. While completing the doctorate program, Dr. Cribbs worked as a curriculum consultant for an elementary engineering charter school and for the Reading Recovery program at the university. In addition, she was a researcher on two large-scale, national research projects funding by the NSF, Factors Influencing College Success in Mathematics (FICSMath) and Sustainability and Gender in Engineering (SaGE).
Currently, Dr. Cribbs is an Assistant Professor at Western Kentucky University. She continues her research focusing on student persistence in mathematics and other STEM fields using the lens of mathematics identity. In addition to published proceedings at Psychology of Mathematics Education, Frontiers in Education, and American Educational Research Association conferences, she has recently published her research in The Mathematics Educator.
