Textbooks For Troops Lending Library
WKU Textbooks For Troops™ (T4T) lending library is one of the LARGEST programs of its kind in the NATION.
This lending library is for military, veterans, and eligible dependent students enrolled in WKU courses who do not receive a book stipend/scholarship. DOD High School juniors and seniors enrolled in a Dual Credit class are also eligible. Books are loaned on a semester basis, and due on the last day of finals week. OnDemand book loans are due as soon as the class is complete.
Scholarship Information: Textbooks for Troops scholarships are processed according to the semester hours you are enrolled in, with the maximum scholarship correlating to six credit hours of the Big Red Backpack rate. For example, for Summer 2026 requests we can process up to $144 Textbooks for Troops scholarship, if you are enrolled in at least six credit hours. This will cover two 3 credit hour classes for those using Big Red Backpack. If you stay enrolled in Big Red Backpack and have additional classes you will be responsible for the Big Red Backpack fee over the amount covered by the scholarship. If you decide to opt-out of Big Red Backpack, you may still receive the scholarship to your account and you may still request physical books from our Textbooks for Troops program, but we can only assist with physical books we currently have in our library, and we can NOT assist with access codes. If we help you with all your books needs, or your course does not require a book, we will NOT post the scholarship.
Requests are processed in the order they are received, and while funding remains. Once we reach our funding cap for the semester, or the deadline for submission passes, the form will be turned off and no late request will be approved.
Post 9/11 GI Bill® recipients, Voc. Rehab recipients and some ROTC scholarships award winners may not be eligible to participate because books, or a book stipend, are provided in those programs.

Important Information Regarding Upcoming Semesters
The form is open for Summer and Fall 2026 semesters. Priority deadline for Textbooks for Troops is 7 days before the class starts. Support for requests submitted after the deadline can not be guaranteed.
Due to the Big Red Backpack charge increasing to $26 per credit hour starting in Fall 2026, the maximum Textbooks for Troops scholarship starting Fall 2026 will be $156.
