Ogden College Pre-Health Professions Advising

Welcome from your Pre-Health Advisors

The pre-health toolboxes at the top of the page will take you to more detailed information on the pre-professional programs at WKU, including:  information on health professions schools, pre-professional course requirements, advising, advisors, the application process, admissions process, entrance exams, and links to the web pages of professional schools in the region and their professional school associations.

Note: The information in this website is not meant to take the place of meeting with your academic advisor each semester and periodically with a health professions advisor.

"Pre-Health" is not a specific major or academic track.

Pre-Health concentrations are personal and professional development paths that students pursue alongside completion of their degree requirements. In consultation with your advisor, it is vital to research all programs of interest to ensure all prerequisite courses and experience requirements are met before matriculation.

So what major should I choose?

Students interested in a pre-health concentration may choose any major they want, as long as they fulfill the prerequisites* for their professional school of interest.  Many majors within Ogden College of Science and Engineering will provide students with strong scientific background that will help while pursuing a pre-health profession, as it gives students a good foundation to build upon.

*Due to variations in admission requirements and procedure, be sure to research multiple programs and visit their websites to view their specific requirements.

Because students should consider both their curricular and extracurricular choices as important to their preparation for their future career and personal goals, we provide information on course requirements as well as on issues such as gaining practical experience and taking advantage of special undergraduate study programs.

Every student should work with an advisor to develop and then continuously evaluate an individual academic program that will meet personal goals.  You can view your assigned advisor(s) on TopNet.  For more information on advising, please see our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Notice: The listing or inclusion of any third-party resource or program on this webpage does not imply the endorsement of the author, pre-health advisors, or WKU.
