History

Building Men of Worth has been in existence since the 1980's. The organization started out under the name Black Men of Western. Black Men of Western was focus on providing a space for black students to share their stories and building connections. Over the decades, BMW was housed in different offices on campus. Fortunately, during the summer of 2015, Former Vice President of Student Affairs Howard Bailey and current, Director of Student Activities, brought to the attention of others the need to revitalize both Black Men of Western and Minority Women of Western (currently Black Women of Western (B-WOW)). After a couple of years, executive board members made a huge decision related to the naming of the organization. In order to me more inclusive of all males, the executive board voted to change the name of from Black Men of Western to Building Men of Worth.
