National Pan-Hellenic Council:
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body for WKU's nine Historically African American letter sororities and fraternities. It was formed as a permanent organization on May 30, 1930 on the campus of Howard University, in Washington DC, with the following stated purpose and mission: "Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations."
The WKU NPHC provides many on-campus activities during the school year such as educational programs, weekend dances, and the Homecoming Step Show. The NPHC also works very closely with the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council to help foster the four main aspects of Greek life: scholarship, leadership, service, and sisterhood/brotherhood.
Interested in joining an NPHC organization while here at WKU? To be eligible for Intake you must have a cumulative GPA of a 2.25, a previous semester GPA of 2.25, and have completed a Greek 101 Workshop within the past calendar year. Greek 101 is an educational workshop to educate interested students on the history of the African American community in higher education as well as the history and significance of NPHC.
