Ogden College of Science and Engineering is pleased to announce that Drs. Mark Cambron and Guangming Xing will serve as Interim Co-Directors of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), effective July 1, 2024.
With over 1,200 students pursuing its majors, SEAS is among the largest academic units on campus and works closely with local industry to provide students with hands-on, applied training in nine undergraduate and two graduate programs.
According to the Dean of Ogden College, Dr. David N. Brown, “This is a big job, and I’m grateful to Drs. Xing and Cambron for stepping up to take it on.”
Dr. Mark Cambron is a Professor of Electrical Engineering within SEAS. He is starting his 23rd year at WKU. Dr. Cambron received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Guangming Xing, a Professor of Computer Science, earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Nankai University in China and later completed his Ph.D. at the University of Georgia, where he specialized in the theory of computing and algorithm design. Dr. Xing has been on The Hill since 2002.
“The training offered in SEAS is important to our students, but it is also important to our industrial partners and other community groups who rely on a well-trained technical workforce to keep the local economy strong,” said Dean Brown. “It’s a significant responsibility.”
