Early Campus Closure - Flo Rida and Kennesaw game
- Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024
Dear Faculty and Staff,
Award-winning entertainer Flo Rida will perform a one-hour, free, pregame concert on the Lower South Lawn prior to the Hilltoppers' home football game vs. Kennesaw State on Wednesday, October 30.
While we look forward to sharing this time together as a Hilltopper Family, it is important to plan ahead.
- Beginning at 2:30 p.m., we are asking offices to operate with minimal staff and encourage employees choosing to leave campus to do so quickly. This will help with parking and traffic as we transition to event operations in support of the game. Those choosing to leave will not be charged vacation time.
- Classes will continue as scheduled. If you feel that your class location may be affected by the festivities, we would be happy to move the class up the Hill for the day. Please contact Jessica Steenbergen at jessica.steenbergen@wku.edu.
- Lower South Lawn will open at 2:30 p.m. for the concert festivities, and space is available on a first-come basis. Pop-up tents for tailgating will be permitted on the perimeter of Lower South Lawn; space in the middle will be reserved and left open for those enjoying the concert.
- Topper Walk will begin at 4:10 p.m.
- The one-hour concert will begin at 5 p.m. with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. at Houchens Industries-LT. Smith Stadium.
- The WKU Community is encouraged to wear black as Hilltopper Football will sport its black uniforms for a nationally televised blackout as WKU Athletics celebrates "Halloween On The Hill" all week long.
- As a reminder, all faculty and staff receive two free game tickets, two complimentary drinks (bottled water or soda) and two free food items (hotdog or popcorn) for this game. You can pick up your tickets and concession coupons at the Diddle Arena ticket office Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. or on game day until 3:30 p.m.
- Parking and Transportation will be sending out detailed parking and street information and reminders.
We hope as many of you as possible can enjoy this Wednesday evening experience with the Hilltopper Family!
Sincerely,
Robert "Bud" Fischer
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
