NASA features graduate’s research
- Wednesday, June 1st, 2011
The research of a WKU graduate has been featured by NASA and the Astrophysical Journal Letters.
The work of Charles Poteet, a 2006 WKU graduate with degrees in physics and math, is featured in the article “Spitzer Sees Crystal Rain in Infant Star Outer Clouds” on NASA’s website. The full scientific article appears in Astrophysical Journal Letters, an arm of one of the most prestigious journals in the field.
Poteet, originally from Rockfield, is a doctoral student at the University of Toledo. His research focuses on tiny crystals of a green mineral called olivine that are falling down like rain on a burgeoning star and are observed from NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope. The same crystals also appear in comets.
