The WKU Nondestructive Analysis (NOVA) Center is offering a $1,000 undergraduate tuition scholarship for the fall 2011 semester.
To qualify for this scholarship, students must be enrolled full-time at WKU, have a major in the Ogden College of Science and Engineering, be a U.S. citizen and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0. The scholarship recipient is required to work on a research project at the NOVA Center under the direction of Dr. Edward Kintzel, the Center director and assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
The NOVA Center, located at WKU’s Center for Research and Development on Nashville Road, features a large-chamber scanning electron microscope (LCSEM). WKU is only university in North America with an instrument of this type. The LCSEM can magnify up to 100,000 times and offers high-resolution imaging for surface analysis, chemical analysis, materials identification, quality control, metal microstructure, subsurface examination and more.
