Updates from the Provost
- Monday, May 3rd, 2021
Good afternoon,
I want to take this opportunity to send this note as we approach the end of the second semester of this most unusual year. No one could have predicted what it would be like to educate and engage students throughout a global pandemic. However, looking back at what we did together – from creating flexible work environments, transitioning to alternate teaching modalities, meeting by Zoom, engaging students, wearing masks everywhere, practicing social distancing, endless hand washing, and so much more – we have completed the semester in a most amazing way. On Saturday, we graduated over 4000 students on a beautiful, sunny, spring day on the Hill with friends and family in attendance. It was quite an accomplishment and we should be proud!
I have served as WKU’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for a little over two years. It has been challenging work but I have enjoyed every bit of serving WKU in this role. We have built an amazing team in the Division of Academic Affairs and I am truly grateful and appreciative of their hard work and commitment to support the academic mission of this institution. I have also enjoyed meeting and working with many of you during my time at WKU. As I approach the end of my administrative appointment, I am looking forward to spending my days in a different way - which I anticipate will be just as busy as working fulltime!
Best wishes to each of you,
Cheryl L. Stevens, PhD
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
