Biography
Dr. Whitney Peake is the Vitale Professor of Entrepreneurship, Department Chair, and Professor of Management. She researches and teaches in the areas of entrepreneurship, small business management, and family business management, and has approximately 30 peer reviewed articles published in and accepted to such outlets as Journal of Business Research, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Small Business Management.
 
Whitney is an associate editor for the Journal of Small Business Strategy, on the editorial review board for the Small Business Institute Journal, and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several top journals in the field, such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Small Business Management, and Journal of Small Business Strategy. Dr. Peake was named a Top 100 Reviewer for the Journal of Small Business Management for her review work in both 2019 and 2020.
 
Since 2015, Whitney has taught the student-led consulting capstone course each spring, Small Business Analysis and Strategy. In this course, Whitney and her students have generated more than 11,000 pro bono consulting hours for nearly 40 businesses in the Southern Kentucky region. Five of seven student projects submitted to national competition have earned a top 3 spot in the nation during that same timeframe.
