Telescope Gift Giving Guide at Hardin Planetarium
- Wednesday, November 16th, 2022
On Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Hardin Planetarium will host Holiday Telescope Guide, a free, public discussion advising buyers on what to look for in a new telescope, featuring guest speaker Rico Tyler.
Avoid frustration with a purchase with experienced advice. Learn about the types of telescopes, how to manage expectations, and which brands tend to be reliable. Rico Tyler has taught astronomy for many years, and has collected many telescopes.
The event is free and open to all interested parties, and will include telescopes with which you can interact and learn. The event will end by 2:00 PM.
Along with special events such as this, Hardin Planetarium offers planetarium presentations to the public at no charge every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM. The current show is When the Universe Was Young, which explains how it is possible for us to see the universe as it looked more than 13.7 billion years ago. When the Universe Was Young will continue until Thanksgiving. After thanksgiving, the planetarium will perform Celebrations for a Long Winter’s Night until the new year. A full schedule of shows are available on the planetarium's website.
