- Thursday, August 17th, 2023
Dr. Rodney King, a member of the WKU Biology Department and University Distinguished Professor and Sofia Sileo, a Gatton Academy senior, each gave presentations at the 25th Biennial Evergreen International Phage Meeting in Olympia, Washington (Aug 6-11, 2023). Sofia presented her work on the discovery, characterization, and genomic analysis of bacteriophage TribbleTrouble.
Dr. King presented research on the identification of toxic gene products encoded by bacteriophage MooMoo; work completed by his former graduate student Whitney Heard.
In addition to a week of fascinating and informative talks on phage biology and the therapeutic application of phages, meeting attendees visited Mt. Rainier for some after conference hiking.
