WKU’s Department of Engineering received a prestigious award at the Tau Beta Pi national convention in Lexington.
WKU’s Kentucky Gamma chapter received the R.H. Nagel Most Improved Chapter Award for 2011-12. The award recognizes major improvement in chapter development, which included project work and doubling the size of the WKU chapter.
WKU also was one of 30 chapters out of 240 nationwide that received a Chapter Project Award for 2011-12 during the Tau Beta Pi’s 107th convention Sept. 27-29.
Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, has more than 535,000 members and nearly 240 active chapters in the United States. It is the nation’s second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885. WKU’s chapter was installed in February 2010.
