Elephant collared for research examining movement patterns and crop raiding by elephants
- Friday, February 13th, 2015
Kenya Wildlife Service veterinarians and rangers captured a crop-raiding elephant to attach a new tracking collar designed by faculty from the WKU Biology and Engineering Departments. The collar is designed to alert local subsistence farmers to a crop raid by the young bull elephant. WKU alumnus Simon Kasaine is coordinating the project in Kenya.
