About 700 students from across Kentucky will compete in the Kentucky Science Olympiad at WKU on April 23.

Students on 24 middle school teams and 24 high school teams will compete in 23 events including anatomy, dynamic planet, food science, meteorology, helicopters, astronomy, chemistry, computer science, biology, geology, physics and more.

The top team in both middle and high school divisions will advance to the national competition in May.

The competition begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. at various locations around campus including Ogden College of Science and Engineering buildings.

Teams include Meyzeek Middle School, Noe Middle School, North Oldham Middle School, Highlands Latin School Middle School, Crosby Middle School, Kentucky Country Day Middle School, Caudill Middle School, Corbin Middle School, Yellow Creek Middle School, Bazzell Middle School, Hopkinsville Middle School, Russell Independent Middle School, Estill County Middle School, Morgan County Middle School, Piarist Middle School, LaRue County Middle School, Knox County Middle School, Somerset Christian Middle School, Glasgow Middle School, Manual High School, St. Francis High School, Highlands Latin School High, Kentucky Country Day High School, Bardstown High School, North Oldham High School, Bell County High School, Middlesboro High School, Madison Central High School, Greenwood High School, Allen County-Scottsville High School, Russell Independent High School, Betsy Layne High School, Morgan County High School, Sheldon Clark High School, Knox Central High School, Somerset Christian High School, Casey County High School, Prestonsburg High School, Henderson County High School, United Christian Homeschool, Central Hardin High School, Madison Southern High School, Marshall County High School and Greenup County High School.
