Samsung senior vice president to visit WKU Sept. 28-29

Dr. Dochul Choi, Samsung’s senior vice president for Technology, and a team of Samsung representatives will visit WKU’s Department of Engineering and its Energy Systems Lab as well as WKU’s Center for Research and Development on Sept. 29.
Also as a part of WKU’s International Year of South Korea, Dr. Choi will be making the following presentations next week:
- Korean Culture and Language at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Gary Ransdell Hall Auditorium
- Samsung Evolution as the Top Tech Company in the World at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at Downing Student Union, room 3024
Dr. Choi has more than 40 years of experience in engineering, research, innovation and business development in the manufacturing industry. He has been with Samsung Electronics Home Appliance Division since March 2004 and is responsible for global research operations, technology innovation, business development, and commercialization of technology with the focus on leadership in energy efficiency and consumer centered home appliance product development and research.
Prior to joining Samsung, Dr. Choi held various research positions with United Technologies Research Center in Hartford, Connecticut, for over 12 years in jet engines and computational fluid dynamics.
He also was with AVCO Research Laboratory, TEXTRON, as a Principal Research Scientist. Before coming to the United States for the graduate study, he was a Senior Research Scientist in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute in Seoul, South Korea.
He earned his PhD and master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
