     Bowling Green, Kentucky – A new student scholarship endowment fund is being created to aid WKU students and to honor retired WKU Libraries Dean Connie Foster. The fund will be named the Connie Foster Student Scholarship Endowment to help students at WKU, with priority to those students working in the libraries at the university.

     According to WKU Libraries Dean Susann deVries, there is currently an existing student scholarship offered to student assistants in the libraries that has been funded through Friends of WKU Libraries funds. “It was a natural fit to put Connie Foster as the namesake for a scholarship fund she had a hand in creating,” said deVries. “The endowment will take the fund a step further by making it sustainable for many years to come.” 

     After 41 years of service to WKU, Connie Foster retired June 30, 2017. Foster worked in many capacities within the libraries, including serials, electronic resources, and department head of Library Technical Services in addition to being dean for the last six years.

     To honor the work she has done at WKU and to further her legacy within the libraries, friends, colleagues, and the WKU Library Advisory Council created a scholarship endowment in her name to ensure students will have scholarship funds perpetually. Through the generosity of WKU Friends of the Libraries, a matching gift has been made to jump start the endowment. For every donation made to the Connie Foster Student Scholarship Endowment, the Friends will match up to $5,000.
