Meet Gizmo and Dela, who are visiting WKU’s Farm from Dark Horse Training Center in Shelbyville, KY.  

Dela (bay mare) is 2 years old and Gizmo (Rocky Mountain Horse mare) is 9 months old.  Dr. Jennifer Gill, Equine Assistant Professor in WKU’s Department of Agriculture, arranged to have these two young rescue horses come to the Ag farm for her Spring 2018 Horse Training course.  Students in this 300-level course/lab plan to teach these young horses how to lead, tie, and trailer, along with basic ground manners.  The horses receive daily care by the students as part of the course requirements.  While not specifically listed as an objective in the syllabus, the students are loving these adorable visitors!
