      Western Kentucky University (WKU) students Alex Huntsman (Bowling Green, Kentucky) and Aqilah Alsadiq (Saudi Arabia) were recognized for receiving the Undergraduate Library Research Award for University Experience (UE) classes.  Each semester, WKU Libraries and WKU University Experience faculty offer the awards in an effort to recognize the important role of good undergraduate research in college academic success.

      “We look forward to honoring these students each semester,” said Joe Shankweiler, Assistant Professor for WKU Libraries and chair of the awards committee. “It’s a pleasure to acknowledge students who have shown exceptional information literacy and research skills through their class projects. These critical skills will help them throughout their college careers and beyond.”   

     Huntsman, research winner representing the main campus UE class, is finishing his first year at WKU. He received his award for his annotated resource list regarding the TED talk presentation There’s More to Life Than Being Happy by Emily Esfahani Smith.  His instructor was Kanisha Boleware.

     Alsadiq, a first-year student, received her award for the best career essay pertaining to professions in the medical field. Her instructor was Anne Heintzman from the South Campus University Experience class.

     Students received one hundred dollars with a plaque honoring their achievement.
