Bowling Green, Kentucky - Western Kentucky University student Austin Stacy is this year’s recipient for the Connie Foster Student Scholarship Endowment at WKU Libraries. Stacy is a junior from Crescent Springs, Kentucky, majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. He is currently working in the reference area of the university libraries under the supervision of Amanda Hardin, coordinator of Circulation.
When asked how his current job will benefit him in his career, Stacy says working with patrons at the desk will definitely help him in his future as he pursues a career as a physician assistant. “I have been surrounded by a great team of staff members that have encouraged me immensely in my education which I am so thankful for,” said Stacy.
According to Hardin, Austin is an exemplary student assistant. “I am thrilled that Austin is this year’s recipient for the student scholarship. He is diligent, detailed, and engaged in his work,” said Hardin. “I cannot wait to see what the future holds for him, and know it will be centered on helping other people. Austin has such a kind and generous outlook on life which makes him a delight to work with.
WKU Libraries Dean Susann deVries says the student scholarships are from a newly created endowment, offering students who are excelling in the classroom and have a financial need an opportunity to receive money on an annual basis. “We are very appreciative of the support from our donors; this endowment allows our students the chance to receive scholarship money perpetually,” said deVries.
