- Tuesday, May 26th, 2020
Dr. Amy Brausch from the Psychological Sciences Department is the recipient of the 2019-2020 OCSE Faculty Award for Excellence in Advising. Dr. Brausch joined the WKU faculty in 2011 and has developed into an outstanding advisor and mentor as a member of the Psychological Sciences Department. Dr. Brausch has a clear passion for working with students on an individual level, which is what elevates her advising and mentorship so high. Dr. Brausch works hard to help remove barriers that her advisees face in registering for classes, even making whatever quick phone calls may be needed to find a solution to a problem. She also admits to acting as both career counselor, and travel agent in many cases, spending countless hours with students preparing graduate school applications and on planning and booking conference travel to maximize the available funds and the number of students from her research group who can attend conferences. Dr. Brausch is always willing to go above and beyond for her students and provides a welcome and safe environment for conversation and even the occasional shedding of tears. She recognizes that her students are all individual people with goals and that a significant part of her responsibility is to help them reach those goals by meeting them where they are and providing them will tools that will help them achieve in the future.
