Dear Colleagues,
Of the myriad decisions we make as a community, one of the most important to our institutional success is the recruitment and selection of those who will serve in senior leadership positions at WKU. Two important searches will soon be underway to name our new Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and the next Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.
I want to thank Dr. Larry Snyder, Dr. Cheryl Davis and Dr. Cathy Carey for agreeing to co-chair the Provost search. I also appreciate Dr. Jeff Katz, Dr. Marge Maxwell and Dr. Pitt Derryberry for their willingness to co-chair the search for the Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.
The co-chairs will select additional members from the broader university community to serve on their committees. We will also seek the services of a professional search firm to develop a national pool of candidates for both openings and will begin advertising the positions in the next few weeks. Our goal is to bring candidates for Provost to campus by March and Dean candidates to campus by April. We will name a Provost first, and she or he will be involved in the final decision to subsequently name the Dean.
I look forward to the opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary contributions that both Dr. David Lee and Dr. Sam Evans have made throughout their careers at WKU. I appreciate their leadership and continued commitment to the University for the remainder of the academic year. We have much work to do over the next nine months as we engage the entire community in our strategic planning efforts and seek new leadership to guide our next phase of growth. Thank you all for your support and involvement in these critical initiatives.
This week we will celebrate together the mid-way point of the semester at Thursday’s Fall Break Brunch. For those who are traveling during the break, please enjoy your time away and be safe.
Best,
Timothy C. Caboni
