Fellow Faculty and Staff:
What a terrific Commencement weekend we just celebrated! More than 1,400 students graduated in two ceremonies on Saturday. My compliments to Registrar Tiffany Robinson and the entire team of folks from across campus who were part of the planning and logistics involved in the day’s events. Commencement reminds us why we chose to pursue careers in higher education. It was moving to see the number of students identified as the first in their families to earn a college degree – an inspirational moment that demonstrates the importance of our continuing commitment to being an institution of access and success.
As we wrap up the term, I want to say to each of you a simple thank you. I am so appreciative of the opportunity to be part of the Western Kentucky University community. I’m grateful for the manner in which the campus has come together to work on our strategic plan, to identify opportunities for growth and success and to seek bold, creative solutions to address the myriad challenges we face as a university.
Whether you are traveling far away or staying close to home during this extended winter break, be safe, relax and enjoy time with family and friends. I hope your spirit and energy will be renewed as well. Kacy and I wish you the happiest of holidays, and we hope you enjoy this fun holiday video:
