Fellow WKU Alumni:
Last week, I hosted my third Faculty and Staff Convocation. It was a terrific opportunity to celebrate our successes as a university, share the direction we are headed this year, and honor those individuals selected from across WKU to receive individual staff and faculty awards. Because you are an important part of our Hilltopper community, please take some time to watch the full address here: https://www.wku.edu/convocation/.
As we begin a new academic year on the Hill, we have a strong foundation to build upon thanks to the collective work of so many during the past two years. With our continued focus on thoughtful and personal attention to every student on our campus, we will move our institution forward, and at the same time, increase the success of our student body and elevate our region.
Our Hilltoppers start a new journey today, whether it’s their first semester or their last on our Hill, and they begin acclimating to a new schedule, new faculty and many times new living arrangements. These are experiences I am sure you can recall. This week, and the next several weeks that follow, is a time of transition and a time that we are needed the most.
Though you may not be located near campus or Bowling Green, there are still ways you can encourage and support our students. This could be a personal phone call or text to check in on the Hilltoppers you know at WKU this year. It may be helping students to expand their networks, providing them with opportunities or mentoring, or simply having lunch. We are grateful for all you do to elevate our student body, our institution and our community.
We are in the business of changing the lives of the students we serve, and we appreciate all that our alumni do to help. Students achieve at their highest potential when they are wrapped in support from a network of caring individuals, and I know our WKU alumni family will be there to help throughout the year. I look forward to a great year and also celebrating the individual successes of our alumni around the world. Go Tops!
Best,
Timothy C. Caboni
