Dear Students:
As you begin the final week of the semester, I want to share how incredibly proud I am of your hard work, your commitment and your perseverance amidst a global pandemic. When we began the academic year together last fall, I shared that this year would look different than years past. And, in some ways it did. But, in so many ways it looked the same, and I credit that to our entire campus community. All those in the WKU Family stepped up to care for and support one another - and sometimes even push when needed. What we’ve experienced together on the Hill this year will never be forgotten. In the years and decades to come, generations beyond us will both study and reflect on the year of COVID-19. As the present becomes the past, and we move forward, we each will carry our experience and memories of this year with us. I hope that you recall fondly your WKU Family and the spirit that guided us so successfully week-to-week, month-to-month and all the way through the end of the year.
Now, as you embark on your summer plans, many have asked what the next academic year will look like on our Hill. While we don’t have all of the answers just yet, please know this - we fully anticipate and plan to resume normal operations on the Hill this fall. We will, of course, continue following guidance from our public health officials as we formalize and finalize our plans throughout the summer. While we do not plan on requiring the COVID-19 vaccine, we strongly encourage you to get vaccinated, if you have not done so already. Additionally, it’s a good idea to stay up-to-date with any changes as they occur to our Healthy on the Hill guidelines in the weeks and months ahead by visiting the website often.
Thank you for a terrific year on the Hill, and for all those seniors graduating with us, I can’t wait to celebrate with you this weekend!
GO TOPS!
