Dear Colleagues,
I am grateful for the opportunity this morning to gather again as a WKU Family. While I look forward to this assembly at the start of each new academic year, the modifications we all adopted during the last 18 months made my fifth WKU Convocation even more special. Additionally, congratulations to Travis Hudson, our 2021 Spirit of WKU award winner. His WKU Spirit extends far beyond athletics and our Hill, and his character and actions continue to serve as an important example of our university’s work to fulfill our mission of transforming lives. For those unable to attend or view live our 2021 Faculty and Staff Convocation, the full address is available here.
To culminate a busy week of final preparations ahead of the semester’s start, as a reminder, this Friday we gather on South Lawn for Topper Fest. With M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan concluding across the street just before Topper Fest begins, we anticipate many of our freshmen joining us for this new event. Of course, we expect returning students to gather as well, providing us with a wonderful opportunity to not only connect with our colleagues, but also to welcome and engage with our students over food, drink, great music, fun activities and fireworks. As always, let’s showcase the WKU Spirit by providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all members of our WKU family.
I look forward to a terrific year with you on the Hill!
GO TOPS!
