WKU’s School Psychology Program Earns National Re-Accreditation
- Friday, July 29th, 2022
The School Psychology program at the Specialist level has received Full Program Approval from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). This accreditation is valid thorough 2029.
School Psychology is part of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS). The program uniquely trains students in both education and mental health. 28 students are currently enrolled, and they will help ease the shortage of school psychological services needed for K-12 students.
The program’s strengths noted in the NASP review include a strong history of comprehensive training, clearly outlined policies, requirement of academic and behavioral case studies, use of a competency-based approach that articulates specific training objectives and student outcomes, and faculty that are committed and active.
The NASP says just some of the benefits of accreditation include helping enhance a program’s reputation, making sure graduates are meeting national standards, and helping with students’ ability to earn credentials and find employment.
Applications for the School Psychology Fall 2023 cohort are due on February 1, 2023. For more information, visit their website or contact Dr. Sarah Ochs at sarah.ochs@wku.edu.
