Fall semester successful for WKU Esports teams

WKU Varsity Esports program had a successful fall semester as the Varsity League of Legends and Rocket League teams won division championships.
The League of Legends team (top photo) won its fall division national championship in the Riot Games’ College League of Legends tournament. WKU competed against teams from California State Polytechnic, University of North Florida, and more. League of Legends team members included student coach Parker Evans of Bowling Green, Ethan Hagan of Bardstown, Levi Hagan of Bardstown, Harrison Hunt of Louisville, Nicholas Johnson of Elizabethtown, Trey Muller of Louisville, Andrew Petitt of Paducah, Benedek Por of Bowling Green, Peyton Smith of Simpsonville, and Sammy Wooten of Louisville.
The Rocket League team (bottom photo) won its fall division national championship in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Starleague tournament. WKU competed against teams from Kansas State, St. Cloud University, and others. Rocket League team members included student coach Isaac Lockwood of Mayfield, Jay Bailey of Jamestown, Michael Delaney of Paducah, Gavin Maynard of Glasgow, and Jordon Sorrells of Owensboro.
WKU Esports’ League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League and Valorant teams will be competing in more events during the spring semester. Most of WKU’s games will be livestreamed on Twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/wkuesports.
