LaMario Moore, Assistant Director of WKU’s Cynthia and George Nichols III Intercultural Student Engagement Center, has been selected for the NASPA Black Diaspora Knowledge Community Stellar 50.
“I am honored to be recognized among so many great professionals in the higher education arena. It is an amazing feeling when people acknowledge and respect the work that you do,” said Moore, who was recognized this week during the NASPA annual conference in Seattle.
The NASPA Black Diaspora Knowledge Community (BDKC) seeks to educate the professional community on trends and issues related to Black professionals and students on research, campus issues, and mentoring. The group’s goal is to connect members of the BDKC while raising awareness for students, staff, administrators, and faculty of color.
The Stellar 50 recipients have worked within the student affairs profession for at least five years and have made an impact in their professional and philanthropic endeavors. In addition, Stellar 50 recipients uphold the strategic initiatives of the NASPA BDKC, which include Professional Development and Engagement; Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice; and Research and Scholarship.
Moore has been involved with NASPA since 2018. Other WKU alumni who received the NASPA award this week included Kristina Gamble, Joshua C. Moore, Paige M. Freeman and Devin M. Moran.
