Bosnia and Herzegovina photo exhibition opening, film screening Jan. 31

WKU’s School of Journalism & Broadcasting will host a reception for the opening of a photographic exhibition Bosnia and Herzegovina: Then and Now followed by a screening of the documentary film Sarajevo Roses: A Cinematic Essay on Jan. 31.
The gallery exhibition opening reception will begin at 6 p.m. in the atrium of Jody Richards Hall (formerly Mass Media and Technology Hall). The documentary screening, presented by WKU’s International Year of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Jody Richards Hall Auditorium.
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Then and Now -- A Visual Exploration of a Country in Change features more than 50 photographs by Lara Ciarabellini, Amel Emric, James H. Kenney Jr., Jose Lopez, Matt Lutton, Dijana Muminovic, Roger M. Richards and Andy Spyra exploring the people and places of Bosnia and Herzegovina since the start of the war in 1992 until today. The exhibit will be on display Jan. 31-April 13; gallery hours are 4 p.m.- 9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. The gallery is closed when WKU is not in session.
Roger M. Richards, director of Sarajevo Roses: A Cinematic Essay, is an award-winning filmmaker and two-time Pulitzer Prize nominated photojournalist who was in Sarajevo at the height of the conflict and has witnessed and filmed its restoration on numerous returns. He will lead a discussion after the screening. The screening, a WKU "swipeable” event, is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Chestnut Street Lot.
