WKU again named a top producer of Fulbright U.S. Students: WKU has again been named a top producer of Fulbright U.S. Students as announced by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Five WKU students received Fulbright awards for academic year 2017-18, placing WKU in a tie for fourth place among master’s institutions nationally. WKU is the only Kentucky institution to make the list, published in the Chronicle of Higher Education.
WKU dedicates Ogden College Hall: WKU dedicated Ogden College Hall on Monday afternoon.
WKU Forensics Team wins 2018 state championship: The WKU Forensics Team won the 2018 Kentucky Forensic Association State Tournament on Saturday in Owensboro. WKU was crowned the state champion in overall team sweepstakes and in individual event team sweepstakes, and took second in large school debate sweepstakes. WKU students won 11 of the 15 event championships at the state tournament.
WKU CCSJ hosting Deliberative Dialogue on Safety & Justice Today: A Deliberative Dialogue on Safety & Justice, hosted by WKU’s Center for Citizenship & Social Justice, will offer WKU students an opportunity to engage in a moderated discussion exploring the question, “How Should Communities Reduce Violence?” The Deliberative Dialogue will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today (Feb. 20) in Downing Student Union, room 3004.

Far Away Places presents Nancy Rice with The Magic, Mystery, and Misfortune of Modern Kenya: WKU Biologist Nancy Rice will talk about “The Magic, Mystery and Misfortune of Modern Kenya” in WKU Libraries’ Far Away Places series at 7 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 22) at Barnes & Noble.
WKU Board of Regents to meet Feb. 23: The WKU Board of Regents will hold its first quarterly meeting at 9 a.m. Friday. The meeting will be in the Martin Regents Room of Jody Richards Hall.
2018 Winter Weather Communications Plan: Check out a reminder about WKU’s winter weather communications plan that provides a number of ways you can find out if classes are delayed, canceled or if a campus is closed.

Baseball: Home Opener Preview -- WKU vs. Belmont: Coming off a 1-2 weekend in Memphis, WKU Baseball returns home for a five-game week at Nick Denes Field. The Hilltoppers begin the slate with the Home Opener against Belmont today with first pitch at 3 p.m. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a 2018 schedule magnet, as weather forecasts show a potential high of 78 degrees and a partly sunny afternoon.
Softball: Kelsey Aikey Tabbed Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week: Behind the first extra-inning no-hitter in WKU Softball history, sophomore Kelsey Aikey has earned Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon. The Cedar Falls, Iowa, native collected her first C-USA weekly honor after recording 12.2 innings of work from the Chattanooga Challenge with a 1.66 weekend ERA.

Medical outreach to Mennonites results in baby manual for new mothers: A simple black-and-white book about everything baby was 23 years in the making. Med Center Health’s “The Baby Book” is a 65-page how-to guide for new mothers, created after a Mennonite woman in this area asked registered nurse Susan Jones, professor emerita at WKU and an employee of the WKU Institute for Rural Health, to create a new baby guidebook styled after one she had been given in the 1960s.
Kentucky Museum offers Pay As You Will program: In an effort to keep cost from being a barrier to people seeing the exhibits in the Kentucky Museum, they have begun a Pay As You Will program. Each Saturday through May 26, instead of standard admission prices, guests will make a donation in any amount to tour the museum.

Topper Travelers Program 2018: The WKU Alumni Association is planning a Baltic Cruise across Northern Europe June 21-July 2.
