WKU to participate in earthquake drill on Oct. 18

WKU to participate in earthquake drill on Oct. 18

The Great Central U.S. Shakeout Drill will take place Thursday (Oct. 18) at 10:18 a.m. local time. WKU will participate in the exercise through the activation of its emergency communications systems, including the RAVE text alert and outdoor warning speakers at 10:18 a.m. CT.
 
Earthquakes do occur in all regions of the state, and the WKU service region is no exception. The New Madrid Seismic Zone poses a significant risk and a major earthquake on the New Madrid or Wabash fault will affect all regions of the state. This is a good opportunity to practice your emergency plan. More information is available at http://www.earthquakecountry.org/sevensteps/
