WKU's 51st Annual Student Research Conference April 9-10

WKU will conduct its 51st Annual Student Research Conference on April 9-10 in a virtual format.
Utilizing the Symposium by ForagerOne virtual event platform, the WKU Student Research Conference will showcase scholarly activities of graduate, undergraduate and Gatton Academy students in all disciplines. All student projects are mentored by WKU faculty and staff members.
A total of 202 students, including 160 undergraduate students and 42 graduate students, will present research and creative projects at the conference. The event will feature 103 oral presentations, 90 poster presentations and nine performances. (More: List of 2021 conference abstracts)
The conference will begin at 2 p.m. April 9 with a keynote address on COVID-19 Vaccines: One Year and Counting by Dr. Ruth Karron, Professor of International Health in the Bloomberg School of Public Health with a joint appointment in the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University.
In her presentation, Dr. Karron will discuss key events in COVID-19 vaccine development and deployment. A pediatric infectious diseases physician, virologist and vaccinologist, Dr. Karron is Director of the Center for Immunization Research and the Johns Hopkins Vaccine Initiative.
The conference will continue with WKU faculty research highlights from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. April 9 and student presentations from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 10.
