Staff Convocation.
University Award for Teaching winner Dr. Ching-Yi Lin, Associate Professor in the
Department of Music
University Award for Research/Creativity winner Dr. Jason Crandall, Associate Professor
in the School of Kinesiology, Recreation, & Sport
University Award for Public Service winner Dr. Brad Stinnett, Assistant Professor
in the School of Kinesiology, Recreation, & Sport
University Award for Student Advisement winner Dr. Ke Peng, Associate Professor in
the Department of Modern Languages
The University Award for Part-time Teaching winner was Jessica Furgerson, who teaches
in Communications and Forensics, and served as the Director of Debate for WKU’s Nationally
Ranked Forensics Team (award accepted on her behalf by Forensics Director, Ganer Newman)
University Distinguished Professor winner Dr. Ferhan Atici, Professor in the Department
of Mathematics
The University Distinguished Professor appointment went to Dr. Aaron Hughey, Professor
in the Department of Counseling and Student Affairs
The Staff Excellence Award in Skilled/Technical/Paraprofessional went to Ms. Amanda
Staples, a lab technician for the Department of Biology
The Staff Excellence Award in Administrative Support went to Kimberly Nessler, of
the Department of English
The Staff Excellence Award in Professional Non-Faculty went to Dr. Derick Strode of
the Gatton Academy
The 2018 Spirit of WKU Award winner Dr. Lacretia Dye, Associate Professor - Counseling
