Dr. Kirolos Haleem's WKU Center for Transportation Research (CTR) Facility
Welcome!
The Center for Transportation Research (CTR) is a multidisciplinary research facility that aims at improving the safety of roadway users through transportation engineering research and statistical crash modeling. The center mainly hosts an RS-150 driving simulator for conducting driver behavior and safety-related studies. The RS-150 is a three-channel system and is a desktop simulation system with basic simulator functionality. It consists of one host computer with three graphics output channels, three 19” LCD displays, keyboard, commercial gaming system for steering wheel, pedal and automatic transmission, and a run-time software. The simulator is being used as part of two funded research grants, “Investigating Distracted Driving in Kentucky: A Driving Simulator Study” and “Understanding and Enhancing Driver Safety at Work Zones: A Driving Simulator Study”. CTR includes multiple desktop computers for students and full-time researchers to use in conducting transportation research. CTR also hosts large meeting table and TV for internal research team meetings and external meetings with the sponsors (e.g., the Kentucky DOT or KYTC).
