Family, friends, mentors, and other guests are encouraged to attend. 

This is a brief celebration to honor the second WKU graduating class from WKU in Somerset. 

Each graduate will receive a WKU in Somerset stole which can be worn with their cap & gown at WKU Commencement. 

Dress is business casual – no cap & gown.
Graduates should arrive by 5 p.m. (EST).

The Mahurin Honors College invites graduating Honors scholars and their guests to an Open-House Reception on Thursday, May 8, 2025, on the third floor of the Downing Student Union (DSU).

To accommodate all attendees, the event will be divided into two sessions:

  • Ogden College of Science & Engineering (Ogden) and College of Health & Human Services (CHHS) Honors Graduates:
    • Check-in: 4:30 PM
    • Medallion Ceremony: 5:15 PM
  • Potter College of Arts & Letters (PCAL), Gordon Ford College of Business (GFCB), and College of Education & Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) Honors Graduates:
    • Check-in: 3:45 PM
    • Medallion Ceremony: 4:30 PM

At check-in, Honors graduates will receive a special graduation gift, followed by a brief medallion ceremony in recognition of their achievements.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you and your loved ones!

Topper Walk: Graduates should line up near the Charles Hardcastle Kentucky Building at 6:00 p.m. Topper Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

Western Kentucky University's Commencement Ceremony begins as all graduates join together representing their colleges to take their final walk across campus before the conferring of their degrees.

For Commencement, students will receive their red towels to wave as they Topper Walk from the meeting place of their academic college into Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium. Family and friends can watch the procession into the stadium to their seats on the field, then they will find their seats in Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium.

Commencement will begin immediately following the seating of students into Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium. This event will be held outdoor rain or shine. 

Western Kentucky University's Commencement Ceremony will begin once students have been seated in Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium on Jimmy Feix field from the Topper Walk. During the Commencement Ceremony, each college will acknowledge their graduates, and President Timothy C. Caboni will present the graduates to the Board of Regents for the conferral of degrees.
