The WKU Student Chapter of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics will host a Virtual Q&A Session with Dr. Ceni Babaoglu, Assistant Program Director and Associate Member of Graduate Studies in Data Science at Ryerson University, at 3 p.m. Feb. 26.

Dr. Babaoglu teaches Data Science courses in the Data Analytics, Big Data, and Predictive Analytics and Practical Data Science and Machine Learning certificate programs and Data Science and Analytics masters program.
Abstract: Dr. Ceni Babaoglu will talk about her academic journey: from Mathematics to Data Science. She will share her experiences through her recent projects and publications, as well as discuss the future trends in data science. Also, she will explain important applied mathematics concepts used in the fields of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Ceni Babaoglu's research interests include statistical machine learning, data mining and deep learning. Some of her papers in data science involve projects with industrial partners such as Globe and Mail, Manulife, St. Mike’s Hospital, and Toronto Police Services.
