The WKU community is invited to attend events Sept. 8 with Visiting Artist and WKU Art & Design Alum Ebony Marshman. Artist Talk will begin at 6 p.m. at Guillaume Auditorium, Grise Hall. The talk also will be available on Zoom at https://wku.zoom.us/j/98824864855
Inner(re)visions Gallery Reception and PCAL-Commissioned Painting Unveiling will begin at 7:15 p.m. at University Gallery, FAC (second floor). The events are open to the public; masks required.
The Department of Art & Design is excited to announce the unveiling of a painting commissioned by the WKU PCAL Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Initiative, to be featured within Marshman’s larger exhibit and unveiled during the reception.
Ebony Marshman will also exhibit a larger body of recent work, meet with students for a Deliberative Dialogue discussion on Representation in the Arts, and conduct Individual Student Studio Visits.
Marshman sees her painting practice as a constructive communion with self and spirit much akin to journaling. “The title of this exhibition, Inner(re)visions, relates not just to my relationship with my imagination, but what results in me centering my own gaze…while navigating externally constructed realities.” Ebony earned her BFA in Painting from WKU in 2013 and M.Ed. in Montessori Education from Loyola University in 2016 and currently lives and works in Washington, D.C.
