Join us for a 1 hour live Zoom Caring For Infants In a Mixed-age Family Child Care Setting training.

Caring for infants and older children at the same time in a family child care home can be very challenging. While it is important for family child care professionals to understand current licensing regulations regarding caring for all ages, it is also important to be aware of current research specific to infant care (birth to eleven months). This training presents strategies and examples of best practice for communication, supervision, programming, and infant care routines in a family child care setting with different ages and abilities.  This training will help you evaluate your current practices in relation to best practices to offer the best infant care possible.

Training Outcomes:

  • Understand the relationship between basic regulatory standards and best practice goals in infant care.
  • Describe some typical infant development milestones (birth-eleven months) in cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional domains.
  • State examples of best infant care practices in a mixed-age, home setting.
  • Evaluate current infant care practices and determine if/what improvements should be made to meet infants' development needs through best care practices.
