Audience: All Staff, Family Child Care Providers, Child Care Centers, New Employees

The cost of this training is $30.00.

Join us for a 6 hour live Zoom
Orientation for Early Care and Education Professionals with CPR and First Aid training series. You must attend both sessions to receive credit. Partial credit will not be given.

This mandatory Training focuses on Health, Safety, and Sanitation, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse, and Recommended Practices. This session is required for all child care employees and must be completed within the first 90 days of employment. Successful completion of this course satisfies the Division of Child Care’s (DCC) new regulatory requirement for each center to ensure that every staff member has received training on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Training Outcomes:
  • Identify actions you can take to prevent injuries.
  • Generate a list of potential safety hazards and appropriate steps to remove or limit the hazards.
  • Describe recommended procedures and documentation for administering medication.
  • Complete Mandatory First Aid and CPR training
  • Identify appropriate actions to minimize spread of infectious diseases.
  • Demonstrate or describe proper hand washing techniques.
  • Distinguish between cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Identify mandated reporters.
  • Define/describe four (4) types of child abuse.
  • Identify at least four (4) physical or behavioral indicators of child abuse or neglect.
  • List two (2) ways to distinguish accidental injury from abuse.
  • Determine when to report, what to report and to whom to report.
  • Learn how basic child growth and development is influenced by the daily schedule, the environment, teacher/child interactions, guidance strategies and parent communication
  • View self as a professional and take action to avoid job burnout.

Training Level: 1

Core Content: Health, Safety, Nutrition and Learning Environments and Curriculum
CDA Subject Areas: Planning a safe, healthy learning environment, Principles of child development and learning

Directions:
The training link will be emailed at least 24 hours before the start of the event.

Please make sure that you log into the training website and can access the Zoom link PRIOR to the training. There are not staff available to troubleshoot after 3:00pm. Log into Zoom with your first and last name so that you can receive credit for the training.
