Since COVID, many children have been shown to have an increase in sensory sensitivity, especially in the classroom. In this training, participants will discuss the importance of including sensory based practices within the care space. We will also discuss and identify ways to adapt the play space. Participants will be encouraged to brainstorm what modifications can be brought to any activity.
Participants will identify the importance of Sensory based play and inclusion in the classroom setting. Participants will brainstorm how to adapt sensory sensitive activities to fit the needs of their children.

As a leader in the child care classroom, we want all of our educators to know the signs of over and under stimulation. We know that we see challenging behaviors rise when children are over- or under- stimulated. Rather than focusing on how to adapt to challenging behaviors, in this training we want to focus on preventing challenging behaviors when possible.

Training Outcomes:

  •  Participants will identify the importance of Sensory based play and inclusion in the classroom setting.

  • Participants will brainstorm how to adapt sensory sensitive activities to fit the needs of their children.
