Technology Guidelines for WKU FCCN Online Courses or Virtual Training Events
General Information for Participating
- We highly recommend participating from a desktop or laptop computer, as opposed to a mobile device, for the best participant and audiovisual experience.
- A high speed internet connection is recommended as the training may be bandwidth intensive at times.
- Participants must register individually and must have a valid and active individual e-mail address to participate. Groups of individuals cannot participate using a single e-mail address.
- Participants will be sent an email 24-48 hours before the start date which will provide course or event login instructions.
- Participants may experience delays in accessing the training based upon the speed and reliability of their computer or mobile device and internet access.
- Participants are responsible for completion of the event within the stated timeframe.
- Live (Zoom) sessions are not recorded. No recording will be available.
- Most live (Zoom) trainings take place in Central Standard Time. Participants are responsible for checking the training details for time zone information.
- Independent Study trainings are work at your own pace. You will have two weeks to complete the session. Refunds/Roll Overs/Substitutions are not issued for failure to complete the session within the timeframe. Please login and make sure you can access the training prior to the start date.
- For technical assistance, email fccnkyinfo@wku.edu or call 800-621-5908.

WKU FCCN Zoom Video Conferencing Sessions
- If the training course or event uses Zoom Video Conferencing, participants will need to access the Zoom website or app. A Zoom URL address or
ID number will be emailed, no later than 24 hours prior to the event.
- We REQUIRE participants create a free Zoom account with their registered FIRST and LAST name before the virtual Zoom session start date at https://zoom.us/freesignup/. You may be asked to install the free Zoom program file. Users that do not use their
first or last name will not receive credit and will be removed from the training.
- From a desktop or laptop computer, you can use the Zoom session link (URL) to join the session and you will be asked
to run/open Zoom from your computer.
- From a mobile device, you will need to install the free Zoom Cloud Meetings app to join the session by using the URL address or the Zoom ID number.
- We ask that you please have your camera turned on and your microphone on mute during
the training, unless it is time for a discussion. Please make sure that both your
camera and microphone work prior to the training.
- Occasionally we will send private messages or use the Zoom chat function for participation.
Please make sure that you can view the chat box prior to the start of training.
- You may be placed in a waiting room prior to the start of the training. This is normal and a staff member will let you in shortly before the training begins.
