Mailing Lists
A mailing list is a list of email addresses that you can send to as if they were one email address. This makes it possible to send email to several people at one time. Each mailing list is composed of members, managed by the administrator of the mailing list. Lists can be customized to meet individual needs - ranging from restricted, announcement-only type lists to open lists intended for threaded discussions.
Mailing Lists at Western Kentucky University are managed using the GNU Mailman software. This software allows users to view list information and manage subscriptions over the web. It also provides a web interface for list administrators to manage every option of their lists.
Subscribing
To be on a mailing list, you must get membership, or subscribe to it. Subscribing to a mailing list is a quick and easy process that requires you to just send an email to the mailing list itself. To subscribe to a mailing list, send an email to [the name of the list]-subscribe@lists.wku.edu.
