Speaker Jason Old, one of the founders of the CAN Fútbol Foundation (CANFF) in Honduras, will discuss his experiences using soccer to encourage Honduran youth to make positive choices about school and life. According to Old, CANFF is built on the “belief that all youth deserve the opportunity to grow and develop in every facet of their lives and should not be hindered by economic status.”
Old played semi-professionally in Roatan, Honduras, before earning his master’s degree in Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies at the University of South Florida. He currently teaches Spanish language and cultures courses at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. His talk is part of the annual Paul G. and Ernestine G. Hatcher Modern Language Lecture Series.
