- Wednesday, February 28th, 2018
The 23rd Annual Regional Bridge Building Championships will be held Saturday (March 3) at the WKU Center for Research and Development, 2413 Nashville Road.
The object of this contest is to see who can design, construct and test the most efficient bridge within certain given specifications. Model bridges are built with basswood and are intended to be simplified versions of real-world bridges. Bridges will be loaded until failure with the bridge with the highest structural efficiency declared the winner.
The competition will begin at approximately 9 a.m. for middle school teams and 10:30 a.m. for high school teams. Bridge check-in will be open Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Multiple teams/bridges from Greenwood High School, Butler County Middle School and Grayson County Middle School will participate.
The event is free and open to the public.
