WKU to participate in statewide tornado safety drill March 1
- WKU News
- Wednesday, February 28th, 2018
WKU will participate in the statewide tornado safety drill on Thursday (March 1). At approximately 9:07 a.m. (Central time), WKU will test its emergency communications network, including the outdoor warning speakers and emergency text messaging system.
This is an informational drill only and WKU will maintain normal activities during this test. As part of 2018 Severe Weather Awareness Week March 1-7, the National Weather Service, partnering with Kentucky Emergency Management and Kentucky Broadcasters Association, will conduct a tornado test message that will activate NOAA weather radios and broadcast media statewide.
Members of the WKU community are encouraged to use this drill as an opportunity to learn where to seek shelter on campus and also to make sure they are signed up for emergency text alerts through TopNet.
