WKU Child Care Center Earns NAEYC Accreditation
- Monday, November 15th, 2021
The Child Care Center at Western Kentucky University has earned a new five-year accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
NAEYC ensures that the Child Care Center’s environment, policies, and practices are continually aligned with NAEYC's early learning standards and recommended practices. They have been accrediting early childcare programs for over 30 years. Their website says “NAEYC Accreditation helps teachers and other staff at early learning programs develop a shared understanding and commitment to quality. The accreditation process leads to increased staff morale, greater staff retention, and a more positive, energetic work atmosphere overall—enabling centers to provide a solid foundation for all children's success in life.” WKU’s Program Portfolio was recently approved with a nearly 88% pass rate. You can learn more about the NAEYC and their standards at naeyc.org.
WKU operates two sites, one on campus at Jones Jagger Hall and the second on Bryant Way in Bowling Green. More information is available at wku.edu/ccc.
NAEYC works to ensure that the early childhood profession exemplifies excellence and is recognized as performing a vital role in society. They work to advance the early childhood profession, be a research-based resource for families, promotes public policy and advocacy, and establishes professional preparation standards for higher education.
