Dear WKU Community, 

As we continue to dig out of the devastating events that occurred early Saturday, I am struck by people’s resilience and the way that the community has come together during these difficult times.   Please, know that the hands and hearts of the Western Kentucky University community go out to our faculty, staff, students, contractors, and neighbors who have been affected by this severe weather event. The community’s needs continue to be great and the WKU community desire to help is strong.   So, if you are a WKU student, faculty member, staff members, or contractor and need assistance (i.e., debris removal, temporary housing, assistance filing insurance claims, childcare, etc.) please fill out this form. AHEC and college volunteers will work diligently to connect Topper needs with Toppers who can assist fellow WKU family members who were affected by these deadly tornados. 

Additionally, you can play also play a role in the recovery by donating to the organizations below who are helping to support the needs of the community:

Bowling Green Independent Schools: Donations of specific items may be dropped off at Bowling Green Junior High from 9 am-4 pm Monday and Tuesday. Specific items include blankets, bottled water, batteries, plastic totes, diapers, and baby wipes. Monetary donations may go through the Stuff the Bus Foundation, which has worked with the district and Family Resource and Youth Services Centers since 2005. Warren County Public Schools: Warren County Public Schools is no longer in need of supplies. Starting Monday, December 13, you can make a monetary donation to the WCPS Synergy Relief Fund at any Independence Bank branch. Funds will help affected families.

Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund: Governor Beshear has established the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund to assist those impacted by the tornados. All donations to the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund are tax-deductible and donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes after donating.

All communities go through hard times, but no matter how hard we may be tested, we need to maintain our belief and make sure that we support and helping each other.  I’m sure that this caring spirit will continue until this city and state are all the way back.
