LaMario Moore, Assistant Director of Programming and Special Initiatives for the Intercultural Student Engagement Center at Western Kentucky University, has received the NAACP Ambassador of Education Award for Higher Education from the Bowling Green/Warren County NAACP Branch. The award was presented on February 1 during the opening ceremony for Black History Month sponsored by the Black Student Alliance.
The award recognizes an individual who promotes educational achievement and encourages life-long learning. They mentor, guide, teach, and counsel people of all ages to pursue academic excellence. The recipient demonstrates a willingness to motivate students and strives to bring out the best in students, as they fulfill their dreams.
At WKU, Moore also serves as Co-Advisor to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and the Black Student Alliance. He earned his Master’s in Student Affairs in Higher Education at WKU in 2020 after graduating with a bachelor’s from the University of Mississippi in 2018. He remains active with the regional board of his fraternity as the Co-Director of Collegiate Affairs.
Moore was originally scheduled to receive the award during the BG/WC NAACP Freedom Fund Gala in December 2021, but the event was canceled to focus on tornado recovery.
